Adieu Christmas 2006
We had a fun christmas this year in Atlanta. Ming invited us to his house for christmas, together with his sister in law and husband. It was a short visit nevertheless a memorable one. Fenty (ming's wife) fed us so much that I gained 2 kg after returned from Atlanta! When we arrived at the airport, the weather was rather warm and I had to take my jacket off and shield my eyes from the sharp sunlight. After a while, we spotted ming's car not too far away and quickly hop into it. I met ming for the 2nd time and his wife for the first. Her name is Fenty, she has a very sweet voice. I couldn't see her clearly as she was wearing sunglasses but I had a feeling she is very nice. Then we headed to Penang Restaurant for an early lunch. I was very excited that I finally get to visit the Penang Restaurant again, I had been there before and the food was excellent. I ordered Hai Nan Chicken rice with much anticipation as I was craving to have one since weeks ago. When the chicken rice was presented before me, I quickly dig in to satisfy my cravings. Unfortunately, it tasted so-so...not tasty enough to savour my appetite. The chicken was cold and lifeless, I can't really taste any ginger or onions in IT. The rice tasted completely different from what I used to eat back in Msia. Hubby ordered Indian Fried Noodles, it tasted alright. The roti canai was perfect though, crispy and very buttery. We ordered one piece just for the sake of it and it's worthwhile. Apparently the restaurant has changed their management /head chef. That explained the why the food-not-so-nice scenario. According to Fenty, their business used to be very good and packed with crowds. Due to their lousy service/attitude towards their client, people refuse to go back anymore. ( Just so you know, bad service is a NO-NO in US if you want to survive in almost any industry, esp dining)
At night, Fen took the liberty to cook us a wonderful meal together with appetizer, cocktail rum and endless dessert. I remember eating and eating... and eating quite frequently while we're in the house. Fenty makes delicious fruit cocktail plus rum.. i drank alot... it was yummy. After that we moved on to drinking session where she performed her skill on martinis and other drinks as well. We really had a great time just chatting and enjoying each other company... I haven't enjoy this much since long time ago.
It felt like we're back to college years again...where we talked about just anything, from life, work, experiences some serious stuff to bogus topic including ghost stories! We laughed non stop because Sufia and me were so 'possessed' that we could'nt stop telling ghost stories. It was hysterically.
All in all I had a wonderful christmas... I am very grateful for their warmth friendship, just what I needed to go on for another year in this foreign country. However, Fenty fell sick after we left.. She joked that she's too old to party... lol. Well, I hope she's feeling better now and I wish her good health always. Cheers!
